When Boys Become Creative Advocates
We create platforms where children express their creativity, engage with the community, lead environmental action and advocate for the world they wish to see and live in.
TEXTILE WASTE COLLECTION DRIVE
Every day, tailors and fashion houses generate heaps of fabric offcuts, beautiful, unseen materials that usually end up burned, dumped, or left to pollute the environment. At Mendaya, we see these scraps differently. We see colour, creativity, and opportunity.
PROJECT UNSTITCH
Equiping Vulnerable boys to stitch their own clothes, shoes, bagsÂ
PROJECT UNSTITCH
UNSTITCH is Mendaya’s flagship creative empowerment program that trains vulnerable boys in circular fashion design while learning to build empathy and grow in emotional intelligence. The project prepares boys for transitioning into adulthood, challenging stereotypes around masculinity and gender. for 6 months 20 boys goes through a 5-stage Plus 1 intensive yet playful experiential circular design education curriculum, teaching them problem solving, time and priority management, public speaking etc.
RUNWAY FOR CHANGE
WHERE FASHION MEETS ADVOCACY We turn everyday community spaces, streets, schools, slums, and rural areas into runways for change. Here, children who have faced neglect, violence, or abandonment share their stories, showcase their talents, and become visible advocates for safer, fairer, and more inclusive communities.
VOICE OF EQUALITY
VOICES THAT NEEDS TO BE HEARD We are reimagining how debate and public speaking work in schools. Instead of only selecting the brightest students to represent their schools, Voice of Equality gives the microphone to those who are often overlooked, children who struggle academically, children who have never been inside a classroom, and children society assumes have nothing to say.
Wheels of Discovery
When two wheels becomes a mobile classroom
Wheels of Discovery is our cycling adventure programme that takes boys beyond the boundaries of their everyday world. We ride through neighbourhoods, farmland paths, quiet streets, and natural spaces, not just for fun, but to open their eyes to a world many of them have never had the chance to see. Nature and the environment become the teacher and the library of thoughts.
PLAY IT FOR PEACE
When play Meets Creativity
From street games to interschool football competition, we organise sports and arts festivals across the streets and communities of Kaduna that integrate out-of-school boys with school-enrolled boys to build connections and play together. Through football, board games, music, spoken words, mural painting and community theatre, boys and youths learn to compete without conflict, express without fear, and create without violence.Â
Boys For Change Fellowship
A leadership bootcamp for boys ready to rethink courage, speak up, and take action.
The Boys for Change Fellowship brings together boys from different schools for an immersive bootcamp that builds leadership, confidence, and problem-solving skills. Through hands-on workshops, group discussions, and creative challenges, participants explore the issues affecting them at home, in school, and within their communities — from peer pressure and bullying to harmful ideas about masculinity and gender.
Each fellow identifies a real problem in their school or community and develops a practical, green solution
